2024 Transfer Prize: Apply by June 1

This year, the University of Bremen is awarding its Transfer Prize for the first time. The aim is to recognize outstanding transfer achievements and transfer projects. The prize is endowed with 2,000 euros and will be awarded every two years in the future. Applications can be submitted until June 1.

Alongside research and teaching, transfer is one of the central tasks of a university. The University of Bremen defines transfer as a broad-based exchange process that encompasses cooperation and dialog between its members and stakeholders from society, culture, education, politics and economy.

“Transfer at our university is significantly driven by your commitment, which successfully builds bridges between science and society through various initiatives and projects and thus contributes to tackling current challenges – this deserves visibility and recognition,” states Vice President for Research and Transfer, Professor Michal Kucera.

Who Can Apply and What Is a Transfer Achievement?

University lecturers and students, mid-level academic staff, and employees in technology and administration are invited to apply. For example, anyone working on a project that innovatively communicates research results to the public, focuses on the application of teaching content in practice, transfers research results to non-university practice, transfers innovative technologies to society, or strengthens cooperation between business and science in other ways can submit an application.

However, there must be a demonstrable output. This means that a practical application must already have taken place. Projects and initiatives that are still in the planning phase are excluded from participation.

The assessment will be carried out by a jury of transfer experts from inside and outside the university and the Transfer Prize will be awarded at a ceremony on October 22, 2024.
